4 Days Maasai Mara Lake Nakuru Safari

Day 1: Arrival Nairobi, Transfer to Maasai Mara Game Reserve

Your professional driver/guide will report to your hotel to start the safari to Masai Mara, with a departure between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM for a picturesque drive in your 4X4 Safari Land Cruiser. You will descend the Great Rift Valley on your way to Maasai Mara, Kenya’s famous game reserve. The drive will take approximately 6 hours, with a stopover at the “Viewpoint,” a great observation area for witnessing the amazing views of the Great Rift Valley. You’ll have the chance to buy a few collectibles or souvenirs along the way. Upon arrival in the Maasai Mara, check in for lunch at Basecamp Leopard Hill Camp and take some time to refresh or rest. The afternoon game drive at 3:30 PM allows for spotting the magnificent wildlife in the park, including the Big Cats such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as rhinos, elephants, and wildebeests. Return to your lodge by 6:30 PM for dinner and overnight.

Leopard Hill tented camp offers the closest proximity to a watering hole in the Maasai Mara, providing an unhindered view of the local wildlife activities while enjoying modern luxury. The unique feature of Leopard Hill accommodation is the adjustable motorized roof of the tents, offering an unobstructed view of the African night sky. You are safely separated from the nocturnal wildlife by a nearly invisible mosquito net. The camp is shaded by a giant fig tree, known as the Double Fig Tree, which was struck by lightning in the 1950s, giving it an unusual shape. While enjoying your morning coffee on the terrace, witness the sun rising over the eastern horizon, creating a stunning display of colors against the silhouette of the Double Fig Tree.

Days 2-3: Full Day – Maasai Mara Game Reserve

Over the next two days, explore the boundless plains by safari vehicle. The Maasai Mara, an essential part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem, hosts the annual wildebeest migration. This quintessential landscape of rolling grasslands and acacia savannas is home to the largest lion population, along with zebras, spotted hyenas, black-backed jackals, hippos, giraffes, elands, and wildebeests.

Start each day with an early morning breakfast before embarking on a packed day to explore the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Enjoy unlimited game drives across the vast savannahs, tracking big cats alongside elephants, giraffes, buffalos, and over 95 other mammals found in this world-renowned park. If you’re visiting during the Great Migration (July – October), witness the spectacular movement of animals, with thousands of zebras, gazelles, and wildebeests crossing the Mara River in search of fresh grasses. The river is also home to hippos and crocodiles, waiting to ambush the herds crossing into their territory.

For a cultural aspect of your safari, ask your driver/guide to arrange a visit to a local Maasai village. This optional experience will provide insight into the native people and their daily lives. Additionally, consider signing up for an optional early morning hot air balloon ride over the Mara for a unique perspective of the landscape and wildlife below. Your driver/guide can assist with all necessary arrangements.

Day 4: Depart, Transfer to Nairobi
Optional: Meals/Dayroom
Enjoy early morning game drives before breakfast, then return to the camp/lodge for a full breakfast. After checking out, depart for Nairobi with a stopover for lunch along the way. You are expected to arrive in Nairobi in the early evening, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or at the airport.
