This Uganda safari takes you through the Murchison Falls National Park which is among the must-be-visited destinations in Uganda. Murchison falls is Uganda's largest national park protecting a large chunk of untamed African savannah. The park is bisected into two by the Mighty River Nile which is the second world's longest river.
The park derives its name from the dramatic Murchison Falls formed at the point where the world's longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. The park has got a number of wild animals in large numbers which include hippos, elephants, and antelopes among others. The launch trip to the bottom of the fall is quite an unforgettable experience which you should not miss while on the safari. The safari will also involve you in primate tracking in the Kaniyo-Pabidi forest as well as bird watching.
Day 1: Kampala - Murchison Falls
Briefing about how you can enjoy your camping safari. Start off for Murchison falls early in the morning. Have a stopover visit to the Rhino sanctuary. Have en route lunch at Masindi. Proceed to Murchison falls to see the top of the waters of the river Nile, exploding violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment. Game viewing in the evening. Dinner and Overnight at your selected campsite.
Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park
Early morning game drives through the northern part of the park. Proceed to the Nile for a launch trip from Paraa to the bottom of the mighty Murchison falls. Have lunch and then game viewing a long the river. At the river shorelines you may see some of the largest few remaining African crocodiles basking from the river banks as well as hippos, elephants and birds, including the rare shoebill stork. Dinner and Overnight
Day 3: Murchison falls National Park
After breakfast take on a morning visit to the delta circuit, north of the river. From here you may see different animals which include giraffes, lions and Ugandan kob. Relax from the campsite waiting for lunch. Go for an evening game drive. Dinner and Overnight
Day 4: Kaniyo Pabidi - Kampala
An early excursion to Kaniyo Pabidi found in Budongo forest the largest Mahogany forest in East Africa. Proceed to the forest for a guided nature walk to track chimpanzees. In the forest 6 groups have been habituated; there fore you have the chance of visiting them at close quarters. The forest also hosts much other rare specie of birds, including the Lemon Bellied Crombec, and Chocolate-backed Kingfisher. From here you will also be able to view the blue mountains of Congo and the Rift Valley Escarpment. Retire in the afternoon and return to Kampala after lunch.
